First, what is the purpose of my site?
Its purpose is to be a community of Ys fans rallying behind what are likely to be my final Falcom Fan Translation Projects for Felghana and Ys VI, as well as for my existing projects, Ys I & II Complete and Ys IV that I'll continue to maintain.
I want a professional looking system to distribute my patches and to seek information about them. The Download Area/system provided by the portal software seems to provide what I'm looking for with download counting/commenting and the organized presentation built-in. That had a lot to do with why I picked it and ditched WordPress.
So, that's a quick summary of why I still want to have a site. So, what should my site's name be is the question?
I've been using "Plight of the Fan Translator" as you can tell. In the updated Ys I patch v1.27 that I'm about to release as soon as I make a Translation Projects Index with this portal, I use "Falcom Fan Translations by NightWolve and Psycho DeuceBag" there, but I guess it's OK to use something different in that case, to give credit to my partner in crime.
Anyway, if you have some ideas on a possible title for this site, post your thoughts here. "Plight of the Fan Translator" is all I have thought of, which could be lengthened to "Plight of the Falcom Fan Translator" I guess, but that might be a bit too long. And then, if by chance I do decide to work on a project some day off into the near future that's not by Falcom, that would be wind up being a dumb move. As it stands right now, though, on how I feel about things, I think I just wanna do Ys VI and Felghana and go on retirement till my carreer is back on track. So really, maybe my official title should somehow include Falcom after all, since their games are all I'm interested in working on, with past exceptions such as Xak III.
So impress me. Use whatever creative talent you have and help me come up with something.

Plight Of the Fan Translator is fine with me. I think it has a nice ring to it.

falcom Ys fan translations... downloaded!!!
oh wait that was matrix reloaded.
nights classic translations.
enjoy!! english translations by Nightwolve.
ok they arent good but something.
-
So you were going for a "Falcom Reloaded" angle here? LOL
I'd be too embarrassed to use something like that, but it could've had possibilities if the Matrix theme wasn't so worn out by overuse.

Hey, first post here :).

Well, all of my suggestions are a bit too fey (oh well :) ):
1. A Still Time: Fan Translations for Ys
2. The Rise and Fall of Ys (how could I resist a stupid pun like that?)
3. Meet me at the Roda Tree
4. The Secret Diary of a Fan Translator, Aged __ 3/4 (fill in appropriate age)
5. An Ode to Jevah*
6. Feena, Remembered
*Jevah Toba is a kindred spirit, since she translated the Books of Ys for Adol. Too bad she doesn't have a kooler name. "Jevah Toba" is as sexy a name as "Alice B. Toklas".
I'm sure you'll want to use them all :).

Actually I think it might be a good idea to leave 'Falcom' out of the name.
First, because you might (even if it seems unlikely today) translate something other than a Falcom game in the future.
Second, because it might be misinterpreted as an affiliation with Nihon Falcom.
Third, 'plight' gives a bit of ambiguity to the name, which is fun. So I think you should keep Plight of the Fan Translator for now.

3. Meet me at the Roda Tree
Eheheh. That was amusing.
steve666 I take it? Howdy. I recognize the, you know, avatar. ;)

Yeah, noticed you linked here in one of your posts elsewhere... and I didn't recognize the URL. "What's this?" I asked myself. Anyway, my personal fave was "The Rise and Fall of Ys" (that's good, dammit), though I thought you might (possibly) have been a fan of Adrian Mole (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/s/secretdiaryofadr_66602440.shtml) (a great British show that I watched on PBS as a kid).
Anyway, it's good to see all of the translations projects will have a new home :).

If you haven't noticed, there's already a non-Falcom translation here: Xak III, so Falcom wouldn't fit in the title.
No The Matrix stuff, please. If people will start to refer Ys to The Matrix, it's all over. ;)

Oh man, why didn't I think of that... Thanks for catching that, really... Really, you've been a big help.
-
Well, I didn't mean it like that. It was just because everyone was suggesting Falcom/Ys names but there's a game here not related to either. That's why I said it. :)
-
Right, but I first suggested it, and it would be pretty much accurate considering all 4 of 5 projects I've ever worked on are games by Falcom. Xak III was my first and it tags along because I did complete it and I might as well. I'm not gonna tuck it away from view even if my title did have Falcom in it. It would be understood that it was my first project when I started fan translating in general, but now I just work on Falcom games solely, etc. Assuming I stuck by that, of course. So yeah, that's why I wouldn't find a Falcom-based title so contradictory by still offering Xak III, as well as Dave Shadoff's Motteke Tamago patch/archive.
When you get right down to it, I really have only been working on Falcom games officially since mid-2002 after the Xak III project which began in late 2001, so I am as close as you would get to a "Falcom Fan Translator." That is the angle from which I look at this.
Anyway, the disadvantage is obvious if I decide later to work on another non-Falcom game, but in the meantime, I don't mind entertaining Falcom-based names to see if someone would actually come up with one that I would really want to use/have, etc.

Holy cr*p, that "Master of the Obvious" image is gorgeous. He has mascot potential here :).

Here’s a couple of ones based off the ‘FFT’, they almost sound ‘the whirlpool-ish’ so maybe you’ll like them, maybe you won’t.
‘Falcom Fan Translations, an UN-Professional Translation for an Unprofessional World’
‘Falcom Fan Translations, taking the ‘Uni-’ out one game at a time’
‘Falcom Fan Translations, the Rouges Adol Could Not Stop’

POTFT, I'm into the name, but just not sure about the abbrev.!
BTW, Nice design, and good to see ya here NW! ;D
-
"The Rise and Fall of Ys" would be a nice site name, but I don't think it would be good as a translation group name. Something along the lines of "Falcom Fanatics" (or "Fanatix", if you like bastardizing the English language :P) would work better since you could say "Translated by Falcom Fanatics", or "This has been a Falcom Fanatics presentation".
In the interest of being gender-neutral and avoiding open invitations to ridicule, I opted against "Falcom Fanboys", another idea I was throwing around. While "Fanatics" has a slightly negative connotation, I can't really come up with something as powerful without the negativity...
As a nice bonus, you can really mess with the heads of the Final Fantasy FreaksTM when you mention something was released by FF ;D.

Ya the matrix one was a joke. the one i did see on here that some one else posted was "the rise and fall of ys" I think that is approate and representive of how this is going. looks like 2002-2006. Definately one of the best comebacks the game ever had.
