Title: An official title/brand name is one thing, but what about a custom theme?
Post by: NightWolve on Feb. 21, 2006, 03:10:49 AM
Alright, this a call out to any web and graphic designer. The current theme/skin that this site is using is a default out-of-the-box one provided by the SMF forum software. The portal is able to adapt itself to the selected themse and apply it everywhere.

So yeah, who here would like to help with redesigning it to help create a more appropiate custom theme (overall style/look)?

I think the way we could do it is you save some sections of the site, then make changes to the colors and graphics in whichever way your creativity takes you, then give that back to me, and I'll worry about plugging in your changes to generate a custom reusable SMF theme. That quick & dirty method would only work if changes were like limited to colors, font type, sizes, etc. If we'd go for massive changes, then likely you'd need to know more details about the theme engine the board operates under. But anyhow, we could work that out later.

So, who's game besides maybe Seldane if he's got the time?? Anybody, anybody at all??

I'm competent enough when it comes to CSS and forum templates, though I've never worked with SMF before.  I have skinned IPB and VB so I imagine it's the same in theory at least.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind at least trying to help out.

Hm, could you come up with a look for me? Like, you save the index page or the forum index, whatever, change it around to fit an idea you have for a look/style, and then let me take a look at it - Would you be willing to do something like that? If not, how exactly would you wanna approach helping out?

Well if you just want colors edited and whatnot I could do that.  I'll just have a look at the CSS and mess around with the stuff there.  Or I could use photoshop and create a mockup and go from there.  However you want to do it's fine really, I'm not sure how much graphic stuff you'd want so I'm fine going whichever way you'd want.
