Hi! So tonight I procrastinated (avoided some real work I had to do) and ended up editing the Wikipedia entry for "Ys (video game)". Nothing major, I just tried to clarify a few things (mostly concerning PC Engine / TurboGrafx-CD) and organize / format the info more logically.... in the process, I added Cellular games to the list of releases (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ys_%28video_game%29#List_of_Ys_games), including external links to Hudson (Japan, North America) and Taito (Japan).
Surely, someone here knows the cellular releases better than I and correct any errors I made. I don't know if it is a complete list, I simplified many of the titles, etc:
Hudson:
Ys I (http://www.hudson.co.jp/mobile/imode/iapp/genre/rp_ys1.html) (2002, Japan), then later as Ys Book I (http://www.hudsonentertainment.com/?page=games&gid=53) (2005, North America)
Ys II (http://www.hudson.co.jp/mobile/imode/iapp/genre/pr_ys2.html) (2002,Japan)
-------------
Taito's Cellular Ys games (http://www.taito.co.jp/mobile/ew_docomo/falcom/game.html):
Ys I - 3D - 2005, Taito (Japan). A 3-D remake of the original Ys game.
Ys I - 3D - Adventure of Dogi - 2005, Taito (Japan). 3-D graphics.
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim - 2005, Taito (Japan). 3-D graphics.
Ys IV: Mask of the Sun - A new theory - 2006, Taito (Japan). 3-D graphics.
My wife just got a new cell phone, and I am hoping I'll be able to play Military Madness and Ys Book 1 (sic) on it. If any of you have played the North American Ys Book 1, I'd love to hear about it :).

Seldane's been keeping an eye on this stuff. I'm sure he can add something to this topic when he sees it.

First of all, Taito hasn't developed anything. ScriptArts are responsible for everything. Taito is just the publisher.
Also, you haven't included Ys: The Oath in Felghana for cellphones.
I'm not finished with my own list regarding this, but here are some other games for cellphones:
Oh, and here are some more Ys games for cellphones:

All right Seldane, looks like you can sort out this mess :).
I didn't know about the Korean, Chinese, etc. versions of Ys, that's kool. It's not that I am ignorant of these markets, I just didn't have any info on them.
I didn't do much research last night, I simply found an old post I made at the MagicEngine forums and added the relevant info to the Wiki.
I was afraid to overwhelm the Wiki page with too much info on the cellular games, since it has more serious problems: just look at how the console/PC releases are formatted (by platform, and occasionally year of publication). And as you can see, it is clearly centered on the North American perspective. I didn't even want to sort through that mess (only adding basic info on PC Engine / TG-16 stuff), so I created a "Discussion" page in which I suggested a simple format for listing games: TITLE (Year, Platform, Publisher). I don't have an aversion to developers, I just don't know enough about the development history for each game (i.e. even the Falcom --> Hudson
relationship is unclear to me).
If you can think of the most logical way to organize all of these cell phone releases, I'll update the Wiki page. But if you'd rather do it (since you seem to have a much better grasp of all the different releases), you have my blessings!
I don't know how the cellular games compare with one another (i.e. exact ports?, revised maps?, etc.) so I didn't feel comfortable lumping games together by TITLE. I think listing games by platform (then sorting by year) is perhaps the best way to do it. While I am a fan of "straight chronological order", it seems uneccessarily messy with all of the cellular games.
Did I look for a FAQ to see if someone had already compiled this info? Of course not! I was procrastinating, remember :)

OK, I have to ask a silly question:
Is there no decent, general FAQ dedicated to the Ys series as a whole?
I just want to update the wiki entry for Ys with a decent list of releases. I want to include all the basic info: title, year released, platform, (maybe a brief description / bit of trivia) etc. Should I cobble together the info found on Duece's site (The Legazy of Ys)? Or has someone already compiled the info into a nice list / table? I will put a table in the wiki so all the info will be formatted nicely.
The existing wiki page (the last time I checked) had a really crappy list of releases (see my eariler comments :) ).
Surely we can make things better at wikipedia!
seldane: I held off on updating the mobile cell games, but I'll be including that info as well...

You can start with this if you want:
http://www.falcom.com/calendar/schdule.html
and the newer list is:
http://www.falcom.com/calendar/index.html
That gives year released info for various packages, and parts of it are in English.
Eh, on second that, just looking at the Wiki article, those links are probably worthless for you. Anyway, too lazy to help with these sorts of things.

I've made a list (table format) with every Ys release including system, release date and some info. Just haven't uploaded it anywhere yet for some reason.

Not that you're asking, but I'm offering: I don't have a problem hosting it for you. It could be a subdomain of tg-16.com, if you'd like. Or I could make a folder in the main directory.

If you're not interested in my offer (don't worry, it won't hurt my feelings :) ), I'd still love to see your work and adapt it for the wiki page -- at the very least. Of course, if you're uncomfortable with this, I'll stop pestering you :) .

Hey, I am enjoying those pages... too bad the catalog stops in 1996, though. I love the detail the list goes in to -- they even list things like Ys CD racks!
