Welcome to my
blog portal! It is I, NightWolve, your friendly neighborhood Ys fan translator/romhacker. Yes, indeed, I've made my triumphant return! I still exist and am still cooking up new projects for Falcom’s Ys games. I’ll leave it to your imagination to figure out exactly for which ones… *ahem*
-
Woo-hoo first one to leave a comment on NiXfiXBixGiX whatever's blog!
-
JoeQuaker is a weird dude. A really weird dude.
-
Sorry :|
-
This looks like the start of something, what will it be? Who knows, but I am sure of one thing and that is the fact that Nick will have something to do with it.
-
Here is a comment for my homie NW.
This is nice blog you have, now I'm jealous.
-
Hey Nightwolve!
I hope to be reading some very nice blog articles from you. :)
-
I expect great things from you! :-) but i do want to hear from you time to time!
-
Hey, nice to read you...
I'll keep an eye on what your gona do... as always ;)
Ho, and by the way, nice looking blog.
-
Sorry to see RIGG come to an end. :( I wish you the best of luck with your future projects. Is the DC hub gone for good, too?
-
Great!! I hope this works out for you, I'm eager to see what new translations you are cooking.
-
Alas, the DC++ Hub was the first thing to close in fact. ;)
-
Just wanted to say hi. So, hi. :)
-
Jsut here to say thanks for all projects you do in the past and thanks to you i can play good games in english and i wish you the best luck in your projects and in your life bye
-
NightWolve,
I tried to register for an account on your blog and it said it would email me my password, and it never did. Also I was wondering if you have a translation patch for XAK 1 and 2.
-
Ah, it might've gotten sucked up by your filters for spam possibly due to the domain contradictions present with how I'm running the server. Possibly. Anyway, welcome.
As for Xak I & II, no, I will not nor ever will be working on those. I thought about it way back when I was still into doing fan translation projects for the PC-Engine/Turbo Duo, but found that there was no support for an 8x16 font like there was for Xak III. Xak III was a special case from a technical standpoint, in that it was virtually ready for a US localization (built-in ASCII font support, etc.).
At any rate, I can tell you that Xak III and Ys IV were officially my last projects for the PC-Engine/Turbo Duo. I'll only be working on Windows PC games nowadays, mostly by Falcom. In fact, only Falcoms PC games as far as I can tell. :P

It's good to see that your still around in some form Nightwolve. Shame the message board had to go thou. Personally, I would have just assigned board matinense to another soul. But it would not feel like your message board after that and that’d be creepy, in a sense.
BTW Nightwolve, have you ever consirered the possibility of starting your own small translation firm? With Working Designs calling it quits after all these years, there could be a market opening. ;) But that’s just my wishful thinking, I’ve been reading too many success stories such as the dawn of ADVfilms…
Anyway good luck with whatever title you may pickup next. I'm hoping it'll be either Ledend of Heroes VI or Xanadou Next. Since Konami haulted all work on Ys VI and I’m sure the same thing will happen if they get Felghana. :(
-
Hey,
To be quite honest, I never liked the old forum software, anyway. Ikonboard? Ewww. :p
What an interesting day this is. I've found a Canon PowerShot SD100 Digital Elph in a parking lot today. It may be old, but it's still a pretty nice find.
Anyway, good luck with the translation project! :D *lurks*

Man, so many responses building up. ;)
Shades_of_blue: Nah, I wouldn't ever think of starting up a small translation firm. Psycho DeuceBag has a real job after all and I'll be getting one soon, too. ;) It's just a little ole hobby man.
-
Best of luck, and congratulations on the new page!
-
wow. glad you a blog of some sort. must comment the blog isnt condusive to reading the responces easily. Visually different. anyways, cheers to the translations. Great Job Night.

Looks like you are getting more activity here, then the last days at the RIGG board. I see many familiar names.
-
Hello guys, new one in here , Im an old fan of Ys and when I heard about this project I became really interested in it.
Im playing with nightwolve's patch right now, its great.
NightWolve , if you would like to make a translation to spanish i'll be glad to help, I dont know japanese but Im from Dominican Republic and my english is pretty good.
If you give me a script I could translate it for you.
Write me an e-mail if youre interested.
-
toranoshi69: Thanks for the offer, but I just don't have the energy to ever think about other language translations.
mjmmx: Yeah, I'm still in the process of choosing a theme/skin. I've been switching around from time to time. Alas, I cannot find one I like enough which I then would try to build off of. Still picking a title for the place, too. ;) Anyway.
-
I've STILL got "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" stuck in my head.
Admit Leonard Nimoy for the U.N. !
-
For those wondering what Joe's talking about, it'd be this:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1189977381292772054
Enjoy! (It's a rather odd creation by "Mr. Spock" himself. It'll surely taint your image of him permanently...)
-
Hey NightWolve,
I was wondering if you ever thought about doing a translation for Ys V expert for SNES.
Someone apparently started one and never finished it. Any chance of getting a better translation?
-
Work for Ys V is actually being done by Ghideon Zhi on & off over at AGTP with Psycho DeuceBag's translation help. I could not help for SNES even if I wanted. But yeah, that's all I know about that.
-
Hey! You told me about making one of these but didn't tell me it was up. ;____;
You suck NightWolve! =p
-
Well, it's far from up, but sorry I left you out of the loop, ya rascal! ;) But that's what the referral on the RIGG RIP page is for ya know...
I've got lots of work to do on it still, but it's "something" for now, at least. Still haven't settled on a theme, but I think I like this current one right here. Then there's moving all the frontpage crap over from rigg.servegame.com... All daunting tasks, sadly.
-
Sorry! My mistake! I got confused with who posted what on the LSF Project blog.
-
Oh yeah, I can see how that mistake could've happened.... ;)
-
it's good you finally decided to use wordpress. But nucleus was better :P
-
Was it? Could you give me a comparison? I was looking at that cause that's what jmet is using. I learned about WP from D-boy. Anyway, I did try both actually. I found WP was more developed as far as the admin screens go and functionality, but nucleus seemed nice too. It was hard to pick. Also, it looked like WP had more available themes to choose from, so that factored into my decision too. Anyway, I'd be interested to know why you think nucleus is better.
-
I found it easier(and though it is powerful very easily extensive by plugins) to handle for some reason. Some blogs lacked functionality some were too messy to handle.Wordpress is still a nice thing. I guess they are good both. I need to dig deeper into core i guess to say for sure if one is superior then another.
-
Hi there NightWolve! I absolutely thank you for your fantastic work on the Ys PC games! What a stellar idea - and what a great job... apparently; I wouldn't know myself yet, as I am having trouble getting the english patch to work on my PC (ooooooooh the frustration!) Hence, I am writing to you in hopes that you might help me to remedy the problem.
Heres what I have done:
1) I switched the language business over to Japanese as outlined
2) I made sure I had the proper files in the Falcom folder ("ysc0203" - i have a Radeon card - & "ys2OP_1")
3)Installed my Ys 1 complete (which I can access and play fine in Japanese...)
4) ran the ys 1 v.1.26 english patch - said it installed successfully...
5) Now, when I try to play the game I get the message:
"the data file wasnt found or the capacity of external memory is insufficient."
I am totally confused as to what to do or try now. If you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jesst
-
Jess: I replied to your problem in the forums. Check there.
-
Glad to see that you are still going. Keep up the good work! We look forward to your next update.
-
Hmm...wonder if you'll see this. I had just d/l the Legend Of Heroes VI and i stumbled upon your patch in which is supposed to make the game run better, but after applying the patch and the config file~i was told that i needed a CD to play. I have a no-CD crack, but it can't be used in accordance to your patch. Is there anything i can do?
-
I guess you mean that there is a newer patch than ED6_1032.zip. Unless the config file really changed with their latest patch, I assume you can still use my config file. Try it and find out. That's it. All I did was make the config file English btw; it doesn't make the game better.
-
Sorry to jump in with a topic TOTALLY unrelated, but can you (or anyone) point me to a FAQ or something similar which explains how to convert a PC-Engine CD-ROM into a .zip file which will subsequently be run by PCEP or HUE for the PSP? Specifically, I have my Dracula X CD and would love to play it on my PSP, but have have NO clue what to do after I put it in my computer...

Try http://necstasy.emunova.net/
Click the British flag so it'll change to English; click Tutorials all the way at the bottom, and then check out the "How to make a Bin/Cue" and "How to make an Iso/Wav" links.

Where can I download Ys I&II Complete translation patches?
I only have some old files from a long time ago, when Ys II wasn't fully translated (actually, I don't know if its finished already, because I'm away from Ys almost a year).
Nightwolve, I've heard that you'll finally translate the newest chapters of the Ys series. I can hardly wait to see one of my dreams come true !!!
-
The link was actually available on the page you commented on, also when you click "Translation Projects." It was the "Original Combo Site" one.

NightWolve,
Won't Falcom come after anyone for translating their newer titles, like the PC version of Ys: The Ark of Napishtim? I thought the reason you quit translating that one was because of the trouble a Korean got into for translating it to Korean.
-
OH, pfff, nobody's been commenting much on this, so I hadn't seen your comment all this time. Correct, that is why I had quit the project initially. It wasn't just that it was a newer title, it was that a Korean company had picked up a license from Falcom to handle a release for Korea, so that in addition to it being a newer title caused him to get into trouble.
That was over two years ago, just about. I think now that enough time has gone by, it won't be an issue, so that's why I decided to continue after all. Add to the two years that have gone by, I will purposely be waiting till the end of this year before any patch is released for it. Essentially, I'm adding even more time.
