Wow, I didn't realize that the anniversary of all this had come about!

So, any progress updates on the patch? Three years is a long time... ;)

Here's a potential installation message for ya:

Extract: Identity_Thief.exe Run: Identity_Thief.exe Identity stolen!

So... ;)

Seriously, though; Love the idea of a revised translation. Also, the new font looks nice; I agree that something never looked quite right about the old one.

And finally, I know this is a long shot and likely beating a dead horse, but is there ANY hope that there will be a Voice Dub? Ever? :-\

EDIT: Never mind: http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?t=45645

 ;D

Nightwolve, when this is finished, will you work with this guy to incorporate it into the next patch? I think having a complete translation after all of these years would be wonderful!

YES! It works! Much appreciated, NightWolve! I'm sorry about all the shit I said about you on THAT forum. That was uncalled for, considering that it was based around a simple misunderstanding. :-[

Yo! I just downloaded TurboRip, and it doesn't detect my drive! Is there anything that can be done?

I'm running Windows Vista and my drive is an ATAPI DVD A DH16A1L.

Translation: It's a CD-RW/DVD-R drive that came with my new Compaq PC.

Is there anyway I can solve this problem? If not, would it be possible to make a new version of TurboRip?

It would mean a lot to me if I were able to rip Ys 4 so I could try that translation of yours on my actual system!

I also posted. I tried to be as kind and polite as the circumstances allow. I can only hope to receve the same from them.

Because if they don't, there will be...consequences.

MWA HA HA!

God, I hope things work out. This is getting ridiculous.

General / Re: How and when did you discover Ys? and...

One day, I was reading Game Informer, my favorite gaming magazine, when I noticed a feature on the top ten games for the TurboGrafx. Ys Book I & II was number one. Not having a Turbo system and never planning on having one, I shrugged it off. Besides, I had heard that it was a lot like Hydlide.

Scary, huh?

Some time later, I find a cool website called Hardcore Gaming 101. As I browsed through the articles, I noticed one for Popful Mail, which I was somewhat interested in. After hearing that it was made by Falcom (As far as I knew at the time, Working Designs made it), I heard about Ys again and saw an article for it. As I read the article, my interest began to grow. I downloaded the crappy Oasis translation of the MSX version, and was hooked! Unfortuntely, I didn't know how to use items, and got stuck at the part where you need to break the pillar in Darm Tower.

I began looking for websites devoted to Ys, but all I found was one forum. With reluctance, I visited it and signed up. Later, I bought Ys I Complete for over $100 on Himeya. After waiting several weeks for it, it finally came (Last time I ever order from those jerks). I installed it, applied a patch that would supposedly translate the game...

...And the rest was history.

Uh, no...

Those Taito remakes are an unholy blemish on the name of Ys!

What if someone played one of those first, hated it, and never bothered to try the greats?

That problem would be accentuated if the games were translated.

Seriously! Translate the PS2 remakes!

Hey, alright!

You are a TRUE Falcom fan to go through all of this...

Plight Of the Fan Translator is fine with me. I think it has a nice ring to it.

Ys I & II Complete / Re: Files downloaded during install?

That's the lowest of the low, Amy. >:(

I don't know about any of you guys, but the rule I always operate under is: If you can get it the right way, ALWAYS do so. When I buy an NES game that I have a rom of, I delete the rom. All of my roms are of either games I don't have or Japanese games (usually translations, in which I don't have much choice). I ALWAYS buy the game if I can.

And if you do put this game up, I WILL report you. You think Falcom makes these games for fun? NightWolve is trying to do us a favor and I will do whatever it takes to support that and Falcom.

END OF RANT

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim / Re: Translation?

Promarock is what I prefer. It's what's used in the anime and who knows how many other places. Also, it sounds more like a real place, as in "Promanant Rock," as in a big sea port, which it is.

But, who am I kidding, I don't know much about Japanese yet. Just make sure the little guy with the red hair is named Adol and not some Americanized crap like, oh, I don't know, maybe Aron?

I ordered Oath in Felghana from Falcom recently. They were having a special on it. It should get here soon. When it does, I'm posting pictures in the spam topic at ALOY if anyone's interested.

I sure hope that patch is done soon. Listening to the music CDs and looking at books I can't read is probably not going to keep me interested for too long.
