Seems like Ys I and II will get another remake, this time for NDS! There's a short notice at rpgfan about it as well.

I've played Snatcher for the MSX, that is kind of a visual novel right? A bit old perhaps. And Tsukihime of course. I like them both, but I guess I understand why the genre isn't big outside Japan.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys / Re: Sample Screenshots of a New YsIV:DOY Font

The pros of the old font aside, I do like seeing the Ys Book I & II font style being restored. It has a more appropiate feel than Courier.

Indeed, that was what I meant by "more like a game-font". All things considered the new font is better. If you have the time to make an update that is, I don't know how much work is required to change the font.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys / Re: Sample Screenshots of a New YsIV:DOY Font

The new font is nice. It looks more like a game-font than the Courier vga font I guess.
The only thing I don't like is the mono-spacing (it's called that right?). Look at the word "still" for instance, there's lot of space between the 'i' and the 'l's.

Ys I & II Complete / new ys site at falcom
« on: Feb. 16, 2007, 04:24:17 PM »
Did you notice the new Ys anniversary website at Falcom? Check it out. It's only about Ys, but my japanese is not very good yet so I don't know if there are any new info or if they just collected all Ys stuff in one place.

I'm an old PS fan since the Master System days myself, but couldn't afford to sign up for PSU. Maybe in the spring, but I think not.

Great news. I always liked the anime, and now I have the opportunity to understand the game!

Sure, I installed ie7 last week. Haven't found it much exciting though, some of the new features (tabs for example) was implemented in firefox a long time ago. But sure, it's about time ie got updated, and I figure it's a bit more standard compliant now. But I still prefer ff2 for my day-to-day surfing.

I haven't tried this until now, but it was kinda fun=) I must also be better at typing. Especially strange boss names is difficult :P
Thanks for this one, NightWolve!

General / revolution got a real name
« on: Apr. 28, 2006, 05:56:08 PM »
I guess you all have heard by now. Nintendo settled for Wii (pronounced 'we') as the name for it's upcoming console. Sounds kind of cute and silly at the same time I think.

So, how do you guys like it?

I think the new page is fine. Readable, lots of pics, and everything in one page which makes it easy to navigate. Well, you won't really have to navigate, because it's all in one page!

It was an OK site for its time, I guess.
Yes, I agree. As your project has evolved, it's a good idea to let the site evolve also.

General / Ys timeline
« on: Mar. 12, 2006, 06:14:34 AM »
Let's get this straight. The official timeline for the Ys series are:
Ys I&II, Ys IV - MotS, Ys III, Ys V, Ys VI
(Ys IV - DoY in an alternate timeline)

Is this right? I also take it that newer PC versions replace the earlier versions as the official, ie Complete replace Book I&II and Oath in Felghana replace Wanderers from Ys.

General / Gurumin on PSP
« on: Mar. 10, 2006, 02:59:59 PM »
I just read on RPGFan that Gurumin will be converted to PSP by Falcom themselves. It seems Falcom really likes the PSP, as lots of titles are being released.

Ys I & II Complete / ys complete limited edition differences
« on: Mar. 03, 2006, 07:07:42 AM »
What is the difference between the Limited Edition and the others? Are there any difference in packaging, manuals, executables etc?

21
Great. Will there be any updates of Ys II patch also?

22
Actually I think it might be a good idea to leave 'Falcom' out of the name.
First, because you might (even if it seems unlikely today) translate something other than a Falcom game in the future.
Second, because it might be misinterpreted as an affiliation with Nihon Falcom.
Third, 'plight' gives a bit of ambiguity to the name, which is fun. So I think you should keep Plight of the Fan Translator for now.

Ys I & II Complete / RE: How to order these two games from Falcom !

Gillian, how much is the shipping to Europe for 1 or 2 games?

Ys I & II Complete / RE: Files downloaded during install?
« on: Jan. 28, 2006, 04:27:52 AM »
I don't think it will be a problem for the nearest future. If the patches are changed or moved, NightWolve will update the script.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys / RE: Vote for your favorite version of Ys IV!
« on: Jan. 28, 2006, 04:24:16 AM »
I second Gillians comment. Technically Dawn of Ys is a bit better, but I still voted for Mask of the Sun because of the story and gameplay.

General / RE: The forum...
« on: Jan. 22, 2006, 01:43:27 PM »
Yeah. Cool that you have a new forums. This one might be easier to maintain, as it is focused on only your new translation projects.
And it is nicely colored, easy on the eyes and userfriendly too. Looks kind of KDEish actually.
