Ys I & II Complete / Re: Ys COMPLETE Bonus Items and Events
« on: May. 06, 2009, 06:04:44 PM »
I'm inclined to list other things as being removed, but I can't confirm if they're disabled or if I just messed up in finding them:
 - Leveling up Feena
 - Feena's comments when she loses sight of Adol around corners
 - Getting Guido to pay double for Iron Ore
 - The mosquito pillars
 - Rhea Lair Reah whistles / winks
The first two are still present. I have yet to check the latter 3, for I have yet to play Ys II DS.

Ys oriented theme...
I think it would be really good if whatever Ys theme you end up choosing was also an Ys 7 theme.

New site, new entry in the series. Relate both.

It seems Ys 7 already has its own logo so far, and its release is expected in September.

I also didn't realize the source can be attributed to Alan Oppenheimer's opening line in NEC's Ys Book I & II:

"Ys, the ideal utopia… How could such a land of promise, simply vanish from the face of the planet? How could such prosperity be forgotten? The legend has been silenced for over 700 years. And now, the mystery unfolds…"
Yes, whenever I think of "Ys Utopia" I'm reminded of the wonderful Ys Book I & II intro. God damn amazing. :)

Edit: Wow, the white background of the quoting box looks strange with the rather dark site background. :o So far, that is.

Hm, great. :)

Though I didn't expect all the accounts to be kept alive during all this time. That's good, I guess. :)

So... it might take some months for this place to be "reformed", huh...

Wow, neat. I'll be looking forward to the next patch. ^^ Thanks

Btw...since there's going to have another patch...
If you install the patch for both Ys I.II COMPLETE, the "Time Attack" mode will be unlocked. Even if you didn't beat the game before.

I wondered if it is a big nuisance to fix...I just think it would be good.  Smiley
Sorry to bother you with such minor matters >.<

6
So that is the reason...Thanks for telling me. Also I'm ashamed I forgot to congrat you for doing an improved patch for Ys I COMPLETE...Thank you!

7
Hey there NightWolve! I REALLY appreciate ALL of your translation project so far like everyone here and all...

Anyway, I wanted to ask you which was your latest Ys II COMPLETE Patch release (which version) and where I can download it (it doesn't seem to be in the download section...=/...) . . . . . . I'm sorry to trouble you, but could you please tell me? Also thanks in advance...

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: So... What now ?
« on: Nov. 26, 2007, 02:43:17 PM »
This is their contact link below. If you have a moment and wouldn't mind telling them to fuck off my work and anything related to it, I would appreciate it.

http://www.romhacking.net/contact/
I just did it.

By luck (maybe), I was already registered there with a different nickname looooooong ago, not sure if that helps.
But I politely asked them to remove the links. Though, I appealed mentioning how not removing the links would make the Ys fanbase suffer, etc. I made what I could to sound convincing.

Well, I tried... "You never know until you try" as we say.
Let's see what will happen, if something will happen. =l

9
Oh yes, Ys II Special... I've been meaning to add a download link to that page. I'll do that eventually. :)

O_o Yeah, now I will be looking forward to it!   =D

It isn't very rare. You can buy a new copy on Yahoo Japan for about $20! :)

It is just a 2-disc set with Falcom Classics I and Falcom Classics II. The bonus discs from FC1 LE and FC2 LE are not included.

I've got an info page (including screenshots) about Falcom Classics II on my website. www.digitalsloth.net/ys.

=D Thanks once again Seldane! But ya know... T.T  I have just paid $80 for the Falcom Classics Collection when I could simply spend $20!! xD lol, I'm really unlucky. =(

^^I also looked at your website! (Maybe I should join your forum =D) ...=/ They could have included the FC1 and FC2's Limited Edition Bonus CDs in FCC...

Anyway, I bought it here----> http://www.gamechoiceclub.com/  Though this site is "a little" expensive, it has some interesting products.

Speaking of rare Saturn games, has anyone come accross an original or ISO of "The Return To Zork" for Japense Sega Saturn  ;D Too bad I lost a lot of work I did on a translation FAQ of "Zork I - The Underground Empire" for Saturn that was on my laptop that died, but I may still have my hand written notes on it... somewhere.

Maybe there you could find this game. It has a ton of Sega Saturn games, so take a look at the Saturn section. =)

EDIT:(a little offtopic) That 'Ys II Special' which you speak in your website,...T.T  I couldn't find a download link anywhere in the web...xD...so if you know any download link for it, I would appreciate.  ;D

11
(Damn it! Let's revive this forum!)

Falcom Classics Collection seems to be an extremely rare game for the Sega Saturn. It also seems to feature the games from both Falcom classics and Falcom Classics II I think.
Though I never heard about the game...not even in GameFAQs, 'cuz there only says that the game does exist and nothing else.

So, does anyone here got this very rare Falcom Game? (Seldane? xD)...If so, how is it like? Does it have anything exclusive in it?

NOTE: I bought a Sega Saturn just to get this game and then I managed to find where to buy it! (via internet) and I will receive it probally this or the next week...@.@ But I just can't wait!!...So any information is very appreciated! ^^ Thanks

General / Re: Ys for X68000
« on: May. 08, 2006, 01:14:08 PM »

A group of hackers known as TEAM MILKHOUSE ported over the PC-9801 versions of Ys I and Ys II to X68000 and unofficially released them on various BBS:es, etc in Japan. These ports are known as True-Ys and True-YsII.

Hmmm...I got 4 Ys ROMs for it. Ys I for the X68000 is definitely AMAZING. Yeah, that Ys REALLY rocks.  :) The music is really great, the frame rate is incredibly good (kinda fast=D), and the graphics are cool at all! I really liked it!=D
I also got a Ys I and a Ys II for it which seemed to be the unofficially released True-Ys and True-Ys II  which you spoke of. =) It is just like you said.
I also found Ys III, but... a question came to my mind then: That Ys III...is the game's graphics like the MegaDrive and Super Nintendo version of Ys III OR did I download an unofficial version of it? xD Because I thought the Ys III graphics for X68000 would be kind of similar to the Ys I 's graphics...

By the way, thanks to you three I could play them.  ;) Thanks

Actually, I don't mind about the karma system at all. Still, I agree it would be better if removed.

xD Maybe the guy who wrote in the seal...dunno...mistook the name for a sec...

And that's not all what's wrong with that cover:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/MP83/YsTheVanishedOmensUSA.jpg

Adol the Red Blond. ;D

xD Adol is blond-haired...The North American game boxes were always srewed up. As an example, look at the North American Megaman/Rockman boxes for the NES. It shows a kind of policeman wearing a yellow suit and shooting a gun. :P

General / Re: How and when did you discover Ys? and...

Ys is spelled Y's on:

Ys I Sega Master System (American/European box, cart and  manual -- not in-game)
Ys III Wanderers From Ys (American SNES -- back of the box only)
Ys IV The Dawn of Ys (box, CD and manual -- not in-game)

See the trend here? None of these games were developed nor distributed by Falcom themselves.

Heheh, so it was true then. But.... O_O it's amazing you know THAT much Seldane...though I didn't expect less from you ;D . Anyway, that explains the case.

General / Best version of each Ys: say what you think!
« on: May. 05, 2006, 06:32:30 PM »
I have been thinking about this for quite a time already. So here is what this topic is about: There have been tons of Ys games that were released for lots of consoles, like Ys I, II and III. In the series, there have been a total of six "chapters". In the SNES, for example, Ys III, IV, V and V Expert were made.  Ys III, for example, was made for many other consoles as well like the Mega Drive (Genesis), NES, PC (Oath in Felghana), PS2, MSX2 and many others. But which console had the best of all those Ys III? That is what this topic is about. =) So, everyone say which version you think it's the best.

FOR EXAMPLE: (Let's suppose someone wrote this:)

 - Best Ys I version -------> PC Windows (Ys I COMPLETE) (===> In this case, since there are 2 of the same Ys for the PC, you have to say which one is better)

 - Best Ys II version ------> PC Windows (Ys II COMPLETE) (===> In this case, since there are 2 of the same Ys for the PC, you have to say which one is better) - Best Ys III version -----> Genesis/Mega Drive

 - Best Ys IV version ----->  Turbo Grafx CD/PCEngine (I know Dawn of Ys and Mask of the Sun are different games, but they are still different versions of the same game: Ys IV)

 - Best Ys V version ------>  SNES (Ys V Expert ===> In this case, since there are 2 "Ys V" for SNES, you have to say which one is better)

-Best Ys VI version ------> PSP

That above was just an EXAMPLE... I hope I could explain well how this works. =P

Now... starting the topic, this is what I think:

 -Best Ys I -----> TurboGrafx CD/ PCEngine
-Best Ys II ----> TurboGrafx CD/ PCEngine
 -Best Ys III ---> PS2
 -Best Ys IV ---> Don't know! O_O
 -Best Ys V  ---> PS2 (I think...though I haven't played this version YET...)
 -Best Ys VI ---> PS2

So, voice your oppinion!

Yes! I saw it for the Master System too first! But didn't play it. It was in a SEARS catalog I ordered Phantasy Star from, and it had this weird graphic instead of a screenshot or box (I think) of like red fragments all pointed to the big word, "Ys". It MAY have had an apostrophe but that was around 90' so I can't remember.

When I got to actually play my first Ys game, Wonderers on SNES... there was the correct spelling. The intro was SO KILLER to me back then. That funky music, the zooming in to the cheesy animations... I instantly fell in love.

xD Lol, I have a friend that also bought Phantasy Star instead of Ys, then loved the game later.

About the SNES animation, yeah, very nice =D.

Heh, actually...I don't know if it's true but,...I heard the US version of Ys for Sega Master System...in the box or somewhere else was written " Y's "... xD IF THAT IS TRUE, then this would explain why some people got used writing Ys with the ' ... does anybody here have heard this before?

Well, let's try to get back to topic a little. ^^ The way everyone here discovered Ys was cool. :) It seems most of us saw it first in the Sega Master System...maybe there would be a few more Ys fans if they had made Ys II for it too...

Actually, I don't care much about the system's name... All I want to know is that it'll have some GOOD games to make it's purchase worth.

 If you liked Super Smash Bros. Melee... ;)

Thanks for the info Seldane and Dark Fact. =) So, X68000 was a computer afterall. I wish I could play those Ys someway (using emulators or not)...They really seem very interesting.  :)

Ummmm...This console's games were in cartriges (like SNES) or CDs (like PCE)?

And, errrmm...do you know how many Ys games were made for that console?

The box art was drawn by none other than Yoshitaka Amano of Final Fantasy fame. (I did not include the disks nor the countless Falcom ads that is contained within the box on this picture -- just the manual which has a textured cover.)

Yeah, the drawing looks like Terra from Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 in US). Kinda strange, but cool ;)

Heheh, that is a looong story... But still...

I have two brothers that are about 8 and 10 years older than myself. In Christmas 1991, about all my family gathered themselves together to buy something for my brothers, since that thing was INSANELY expensive at the time and place, they all spent some money to import a TurboGrafx 16 together with Ys Book I & II.
At that time, I was only 1 year old... This was the first game I ever played in my life. One of my brothers always tried to teach me how to play with 1 year old...Though when my brother gave me the controller, I used to throw it against the floor...xD! When I was about 3-4 years old, I could play almost normally...but I was usually leveling up Adol for my brothres xD....I used to do that many times for years in a lot of RPGs...

I last saw the game's ending with 4 years....after then the TurboGrafx broke! T_T... Just after 12 years I got the Magic Engine Emulator, then beated the game by myself! It was so strange...the deepest I got into the game, the more I was remembering...It was very nostalgic...YS IS A BLESSING! =D

By the way, during those 12 years, I played ohter Ys like Ys III, IV & V for the SNES... Also last year when I knew there was another Ys IV for PCE, I got overwhelmed! Then when I saw that a guy called "Nightwolve" was translating it, I said to myself " OH MY GOD!!! A YS MISSIONARY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!=DDDD" or sorta. xD
Anyway, Nightwolve gave me the chance to know more about Ys...heh, he is so kind.^^

O.O wow, I'm speaking here forever...Better I stop here....>.< Sorry for all that long story, but that was how I knew Ys....I was born playing Ys... xD

23
Hmmmm... I see. That seems very interesting! And I think you noticed already,but... Pressing Y and S simultaneously makes a lot of sense, since with those two letters you write the word "YS".

I will get my hands on Ys Eternal I in probally two or three weeks.

Also thanks for the info.^^

24
Heh, thank ya for telling me. I appreciate it.^^ That is something I was really wishing to know ;D

But you see,...the staff room is somekind of secret room that you can talk with the staff members? (I'm only taking a wild guess xD)

25
Words of wisdom.

Seriously, those games should have never been made! They are a disgrace!

...But at least Ys III kinda rocks. :)

Yes, luckily I got my hands on Ys III for PS2 (I heard someone tried emulating it by burning the game's ISO on a CD and then run on PS2 emulators...Maybe that's why we have it in CDs...maybe...). Anyway I thought Ys III would be the very same "rubbish", but wow...Ys III for PS2 was very fun!

By the way, was Ys I & II Eternal Story bad as well? I thought  it would be like Ys I.II COMPLETE, but slightly better...

Ys I & II Complete / Re: ys complete limited edition differences
« on: Mar. 15, 2006, 04:32:50 PM »
Hey I heard the limited edition had the anime of Ys IV - Dawn of Ys as well!! But I wanted to know if it is just a rumor (I believe it is =/.....but I hope not...)

27
Wow,...I once heard Ys IV for PS2 was horrible, but not THAT horrible...

Also when I think better about it, I just imagine how complicated would be do both create the patch AND "insert" the patch,...I think I asked something really stupid afterall xD... (But still I hope someday it gets translated somehow...or that I learn japanese xD...But that will take lots of years =/...)

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys / Re: Vote for your favorite version of Ys IV!
« on: Mar. 14, 2006, 04:54:26 PM »
Hehehe. It's not known as "mobile." Mobile is the platform. As in -- the game's on a mobile phone.

It will not be in this poll because nobody here will ever be able to play it. You can see some screenshots of it here.

Ys VI, Ys ETERNAL and YsF has been released for mobile phones as well. Along with millions of other Ys mobile releases.

Heheh, I guess you are right. Afterall the game doesn't look "great", so I think no one would vote for this Ys IV. (Also thanks for giving me that link)

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys / Re: Vote for your favorite version of Ys IV!
« on: Mar. 14, 2006, 04:05:56 PM »
Since I didn't finish Dawn of Ys YET and since I never got my hands into Mask of the Sun for PS2, I won't vote know.

But I wanted to say: It seems there is another version of Ys IV (still Mask of the Sun) for a game console knew as 'Mobile'... from what I heard, Mobile is a cel. phone that has games for it. You can check it out on GameFAQs ===>http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/mobile/data/930128.html

Does anybody knows if there are any script / text differences between Ys I.II COMPLETE and Ys I Eternal & Ys II Eternal? I mean, for example: Does ALL the game's characters say the VERY SAME thing in both COMPLETE and Eternal?... If anybody knows, I would be glad to be informed. ^^

31
Just wanted to know if you are thinking about making patches for the PS2 Ys games like Ys I & II Eternal Story, Ys III and Ys IV: Mask of the Sun- A new Theory...  Though probally not due to lots of reasons... But hey, just wanted to ask. ^^
