Ys IV: Dawn of Ys Script
« on: Apr. 20, 2006, 04:27:37 PM »
I was wondering (and perhaps I missed it) if there is scipt of all the Cut scenes from Ys IV.  I have downloaded the "complete" script but I didn't see any for the cut scenes.  I'm in the process of playing with the .95 patch and I would like to know what is being said in the cuts scenes.  Thanks to anyone that can help here...

If you download the Ys* IV patch, you'll notice that the archive contains a file called Ys4Speech.txt. If you for some reason can't find it -- here it is (attachment).

(*notice the lack of an apostrophe.)
DVDs are for suckers. Illegally pirated and stolen videos all the way. No menus. No "DO NOT PIRATE THIS!" screens. No fuss. Only perfection. I honestly only pirate movies because that "don't pirate this" screen annoys me.

Indeed, it's AV time. Check out: ! Sir, the door was open.

Many others seem to keep missing that YsIVSpeech.txt file in the patch for some reason. It's one of two text files in the patch archive, besides the ReadMe, and apparently no interest is taken in examining its contents. Should've named it with a longer filename perhaps, like Speech Translations?? *shrugs*

Thanks to both of you for posting.  I knew I had seen the speech script somewhere, but since I patched my game so long ago I had forgotten where it was.  Anyway thanks again....

You know, having looked back over the script, and given my current work of rewriting the Mask of the Sun script, Dawn of Ys could really use some editing.  I don't know why I did such a halfassed job on it...

Well, I started playing this game and wow, once again, the translation is very good  :D Thanks, once again.

But I've run into a little script problem! When I reached Arieda Village, I entered Karna's house. She talked to me (without voice), and then I walked out of the house. But then a man talked to me (WITH voice), and there was no script for it.

Quote
[Later, Karna comes to help.]
Duren:     "Hm? What the...?  Who the heck are you?"
Karna:     "Shh! Keep it down! I'm going to break the lock."
Duren:     "Whoa! I don't know who you are, babe, but thanks a million!"
Karna:     "I told you to keep quiet! Now follow me!"

10. Arieda Mine - Lemnos is Injured
Karna:     "Lemnos!"
Lemnos:    "Ugh..., We must... protect... Lord Slano's tomb... from... the Clan
           of Darkness...!"

You see? Between those two, there should be this man's dialogue scripted. I'm supposing the man's Lemnos, or something...

'Kay, so it wasn't Lemnos, it was Dr. Flair, and it was scripted some lines below. So I guess I saw the scene before Psycho DeuceBag :P Sorry!

Good game actually. I wasn't sure what to expect (I had never played a Turbografx game), but it turned out to be great! Guess I'm becoming an Ys lover huh

Hey, sounds good to me. Whenever you feel like it, say the word and I'll whip up the script editor for it.
