Well, actually no, sorry folks. I haven't worked on it much, and I still have more things to add due to what happened. I've done all the research that I wanted/needed to, I think, but I haven't put the time in to finish things up, and I don't feel any rush to do so either. It's not as if I don't have other things I should be working on.

Yunika is by far my favorite character to PLAY. Kind of sucks her story is boring though ... maybe you should take a LOT of creative liberties with it?

It's not so much that she's annoying and cutesy (though she is both of those things, to an obnoxious degree). No, she commits a far greater sin than that... she's BORING. Yes, I'm translating her story, just as I did the other two, but it's slower going, as it's just plain dull.

Deuce maybe this will help. Put the Yunica situation in perspective. Is she whiny? Yes is she filling the overly cute role? Yes. Does she do it for the goddesses? yes. Sounds like whining for the right reasons although annoying and the cuteness is detestable. now take into perspective some newer posters on this board. Are they whiny? Yes Are they cute? probally not hell they are hiding behind the internet Ba ha ha ha... Are they whining in the interest of the board? Hell no... recap whiny for wrong reasons and ulgy what a bad combo. Lets put both chararcters in perspective now... seems to me that translation of Yunica text would be would be more beneficial (although painfully annoying to do) versus typing text to annoying ulgy pirating whiners in the shout box. key thing to remember is Yunica text lasts the life of the game. whining piraters text last the length of the shout box..... Heh... Ys Origin won't take that long to do. It's already well on its way to completion, but I'll confess, I'm having a difficult time getting motivated to do Yunica's script with any kind of speed. Because Yunica sucks.

When it's released, however, will be a while. Patch optimizations and all that... I wouldn't expect it this year, to be certain. And you can all thank the leaker for that.

I think he might be able to release the Origin patch in like 5 or so years... if oath took 3 years.... origin has GOT to have more dialogue due to the ability to be multiple characters, but in the end his work will always be one thing. Perfect, to a die hard Ys fan the only translation patch is a perfect one. And trust me, it WILL be a perfect one

Yeah, of course they are. As long as the games are being pirating freely and as long as unauthorized translation patches respect the same tradition by also being handed out freely, then all is well in the commune. Noone generates revenue from the copyright (or, "copyleft", through their lens)... thus, it has been protected...

Sanctity is preserved by combatting capitalism, ie, the evil profit motive. That is why you won't find them in a pirating network telling the users there to stop what they're doing, but you will find them here with me, telling me to stop what I'm about to do in the future...

Your premise is flawed from the get-go. What I have been generating revenue from has been the work that I put into the creation of a unique patch, and that alone. Claiming that this is a lot worse than piracy is the height of stupidity and completely indefensible. Piracy is theft, and costs the industry millions to billions every fucking year! Lemme tell you something, chief, I've spent thousands of hours creating this patch. Thousands, across three years. In the case of Felghana, what I have been asking for in exchange is effectively ONE minimum wage hour of your work in return. ONE FUCKING MINIMUM WAGE HOUR, ($5/hr) in exchange for thousands of my programming hours. OH. MY. GOD. THE HORROR! THE UNFAIRNESS!!!!!!

It's a pretty good fucking deal if you ask me. A pretty good fucking deal. Add to that, it is temporary and will be freeware when it's finished. As for Ys Origin, yes, that will be sold from the very beginning probably around $10, which is still a good deal, and amounts to me asking for 2 of your minimum wage hours in exchange. If you can't afford that, well, that's not my problem. It would also indicate to me you couldn't afford the game itself and likely scored a copy off your favorite torrent site.

If you need money that badly just give up on fan-translating and get a real honest job.

You don't issue ultimatums here. An ultimatum like this only shows your fanaticism. If you're that fucking cheap and the very concept of me offering a translation patch up for sale "offends" you, you know where the exit is. Up at the top of your browser is the Address bar. If it wasn't for people like Rensato, maybe NightWolve would be more willing to finish his work sooner. I'm not saying this to rush him and it to be released sooner. But making demands when you have contributed shit to NightWolve and support his cause dosn't look very beneficial to your side of the argument. No ones forcing you to donate, But that also dosn't give you the right to determine NightWolve is doing the right thing or not. You didn't assist him or help with his project, so it's entirely up to him and Deuce to decide what they want to do with it. It's thier translation, NOT yours.

And even the slight chance you actually own a REAL copy of Oath of Felghana, you may want to be more open to the fact someone is going out of thier way and translating the game for the rest of the Ys community.
