If you're interested in Windows PC games, you'll need knowledge in Intel x86 Assembly and "C". Falcom games in particular are compiled with Microsoft Visual C++ as are a lot of other Windows games. Since you don't have the C/C++ source for the executable, you have to have a good disassembler and hence knowledge in Assembly language to be able to alter the game's behavior.
