Any Super Metroid Fans out there?
« on: Jul. 23, 2006, 01:02:55 AM »
I found this the other day when visiting a romhacking board:

Super Metroid Redesign

The creator spent 2 years redesigning the maps of Super Metroid in order to bring a completely new and more challenging experience. If you enjoyed Super Metroid and have a craving for more, than you might want to give this one a try. Be forwarned though, it does require some skill with wall jumping. lol

So far I'm having a blast with it and I've been rather addicted to it. However, since this game is hard as hell, there is an online F.A.Q going on here for those who are into the game.

Another interesting site (In Japanese) has patches for not only the Super Metroid Redesign, but several others as well.

I really enjoyed the two Metroid games between NES & SNES. The new Metroid games for GameCube make me interested in the system, but given time constraints and just having grown away from Nintendo, I'll likely never get to play them. Anyway, this redesigned hacked version is something worth taking a look at. Perhaps I'll give it a shot some time.

Hey Skye, Night~
Yeah some good memories with Super Metroid.  Great game.
And speaking of the Super Metroid Redesign; it's probably the best of the romhacks out there, but there are 2 others I know of also...
Romhacking.net 3 results~
Metroid Legacy and Super Metroid: Zebes Returns;  I've only played a little bit of each one, nice jobs.  [I'll probably stick with redesign but it's nice to have options ;)]

Oh and not sure if I mentioned this yet on a Super Metroid note:

has a few Super Metroid remixes~ great metal!

This isn't Super Metroid but they are transforming Metroid Prime into a new side scroller game for the PC for fun!

sweet, i love metroid, too bad I couldn't find the OST for super metroid :(.  I only have the lame "sound in action" which is what? basically someone recording directly from the game? lol

This may not be the OST but this site seems to have absolutely tons of SPC music files that can be played back on winamp or other player...
and here's Super Metroid's "soundtrack"

Wow, good to see that others are interested in playing it as well. It's a really fun game, and fairly long too. I've taken a bit of a break off of it so that I could finish up Xenosaga II before III comes out, but I'm currently clocked at 20+ hours with only about half of the energy tanks and the last thing I got was speed boost, so it's certainly got a bit of exploration in the game. ^_^

Yeah I remember downloading that Metroid Metal mix awhile back and I'm still to this day very impressed with how they did it. Some of the guitar riffs and sounds they create to add to overall feeling of making the music feel like Planet Zebes and all of the weird creatures that inhabit the planet and their accompanying sounds are just plain awesome. I thought they were extremely creative with them.

If you are looking for a fairly decent Super Metroid Remix Album then Relics of the Chozo isn't too bad.

Thanks for the link to that Metroid Prime in 2-D project. I hope they can pull it off, the demo was nice so far with a fair bit to offer for just being a demo. Kind of reminds me of the old Zelda Ocarina of TIme 2-D project before it got taken down.
