I really like this new forum better than the old one.
I like the design, the fact you can see a lot of stuff written in one glance, all the stats available, etc.

Well, it certainly is better overall than the ikonboard stuff I had for years, as well as the embarrassing frontpage stuff. It's really not hard to decide. ;) But yeah, it's basically less embarrassing to me now and to the world. Though, I haven't talked again to Magus' friend Marina about a better redesign for this site.

Granted, I'm not quite where I wanna be with this portal choice to distribute my patches and have a relatively small, but active forum. I'm just in a much much better position though. I think the Ys I Complete page with all the screen shots, downloads monitoring, the idea of tracking how many Ys nerds are actually using my patches (the distinction between a plain download count versus how many actually applied the patch/did a version check), etc. is kind of cool and rekindled my interest in sticking around, although it's costing me dearly as far as my offline concerns go. I like to look at the stats and be like, "Hey, look, 196 Ys nerds across the world have used my Ys I patch! I'm special!"

I think that this skin/theme is horrible. >>;;; There was a lighter coloured one before (after Iknoboard was replaced), and it was much more elegant and easier to read.

I like it because it is dark. I can't stand bright forums.... and they all are. When will they learn?
DVDs are for suckers. Illegally pirated and stolen videos all the way. No menus. No "DO NOT PIRATE THIS!" screens. No fuss. Only perfection. I honestly only pirate movies because that "don't pirate this" screen annoys me.

Indeed, it's AV time. Check out: ! Sir, the door was open.

You're right Seldane...

I don't want to have to get laser eye surgery from staring at a tacky forum. Darkness rules heh-heh.

I guess I don't have crappy eyesight, either skin was readable. Though I wonder what it would take to make changeable skins for everyone who complains. The new design is much nicer then the old one though.

No, the Star Wars nerds are much much worse. You didn't see that episode of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, did you?? I must find that for you.

Actually, research shows otherwise... Dark text on light background is much easier on the eyes.

And it's not just that...I just find the current setup, well, ugly... The skin you had when I posted about it on January 15, 2006 was much more elegant. (And it seemed that I was not only one to like that one.)

I kind of remember the old one being hard to navigate. When I first checked it out awhile back I remember having trouble finding certain content, but this new design works very well and the style is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye and full of helpful easy to access links. The addition of the shoutbox (is that new?) and recent posts navigational bars on the side are very welcoming in that they make the forum feel like there is much discussion to be had here.

I think that's why I like it here, the discussions are interesting and the members here seem to have not only good heads on their shoulders, but also excellent tastes in games.

Here you go! You MUST watch all of this in full. ;) You won't regret it. As you'll soon see, they're in a whole class of their own... So no, it would not be a fair comparison between Ys nerds. This is, what do you call it... um, yeah, "LARPer" territory... It's a whole other ballgame of nerddom... LOL

Actually, research shows otherwise... Dark text on light background is much easier on the eyes.

Let me quote Maddox of The Best Page In The Universe:

Quote
I've chosen a black background for most of my text because it's easier on the eyes than staring at a white screen. Think about it: your monitor is not a piece of paper, no matter how hard you try to make it one. Staring at a white background while you read is like staring at a light bulb (don't believe me? Try turning off the lights next time you use a word processor). Would you stare at a light bulb for hours at a time? Not if you want to keep your vision.

That's exactly how I feel, no matter what those researches may say.

Well, it's not the outnumbering that is the issue. It's the taking it to the next level and beyond! Would you dress up as Adol and attend say some Falcom sponsored event? Yeah, thought not... That video never gets old for me btw. Some of Triumph's other material like his visit to Quebec is amusing, but the best I've seen is this Star Wars one without a doubt.

Back on the subject, though, as I had a comment. I didn't at first like this white text, dark/black background theme, but I got used to it and I do prefer it now it seems. It is easier on the eyes as opposed to having a bright white background glaring at you. I would find research that states the opposite is better a bit suspect.

Today's anecdote: I've always found light text on a dark background easier to read -- especially in forums (since threads are segmented by individual posts, so you don't have pages and pages of text to read).

Harsh white backgrounds are painful. I
Of course, I am guilty using black text on white background.
