Buying Legend of heroes
« on: Mar. 30, 2006, 02:24:32 AM »
I was looking for some info on this game and found some pictures and the game looks incredible if I am looking at the right one. I found the game on play Asia

Can someone tell me if this is in the same series as the game currently being worked on? I would also like to know

1. How many games are in the series?
2. Were they all made for the pc?
3. Where I can purchase the other games from the legend of heroes series for PC?
4. Also where can I purchase all the y's games for pc?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

The Legend of Heroes series has 6 games /technically/... but Sora no Kiseki Second Chapter is a continuation of Legend of Heroes VI.

The one being worked on IS the first chapter of the two that's on the play asia link you provided. ^^

I... believe they were all made for PC... but there've been plenty of remakes of the Gagharv Trilogy (3, 4, and 5)- one of the remakes being for PSP. ONe of them was even released in the US (4 - A Tear of Vermillion).

Purchasing Falcom games is actually not that hard. If you go to Falcom.com and go to their online shopping section, they do accept orders for overseas. More or less, just email user-sup@falcom.co.jp with the information of what country they'll be shipping to, what item (preferablly the item # included), and the quantity. They will get back to you with the total of your order. Then you send them your credit card information, and they will send a confirmation of your information and that should work out. :D

I'm also doing this kinda blind, so... if I got anything wrong, someone correct me please. XD

...oh. Also the Ys games are available on Falcom's site. I believe I and II complete are there... Oath in Felghana, and Ark of Napishtim.

I wish you luck- hope you find what you're looking for! :D

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding the number ordering. So Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki First & Second Chapter on the playasia site is really part 6 chapter one and then chapter 2 is a continuation of part 6, am I right in thinking this?

I thought that this game was part 1 and 2 in the legend of heroes saga.

Well if it is not, what is the most recent version of part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 that is not for a handheld? I noticed they released 1-4 on the Playstation and 1-3 on the Saturn I think, but are their counterparts on the Windows based PC versions better or worse than the Playstation/Saturn versions mentioned above?

Since I don't speak Japanese I'm having a hard time finding English info or pretty much any info on these games at all. I am taking Japanese in college next semester, so I want to buy the games now so when I learn the language I will be able to enjoy this series, and hopefully the Y’s series as well.

And if anyone knows of any good English website’s that have Falcom game info and game release info please post it here.

Please any help would be appreciated, thanks.

They're numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6 but they do not form a real series.
1 and 2 are linked, as well as 3,4,5 (The "Gagharv Trilogy").
LoH 6 1&2 can be seen as the "Sora no Kiseki" series (but who knows if it's already finished  ? ;)).

You want recent releases? Then I guess it's all about graphics, isn't it?

ED1-2 looks about the same on every system. There's a very pretty remake of ED3 for Saturn (http://www.digitalsloth.net/ys -- screenshots here).

There's a port of ED4 for PS1, but it looks identical to the original version -- the PC-9801 release (same goes for the PC port).

ED5 only got released on PC and it looks about the same as ED4.

Thanks for the info!

I just want to make sure that these are also the most upto date versions of the Ys games. Does anyone know what the best Ys 4 game is?

Ys 1 & 2 Complete
Ys 3 ~The Oath in Felghana~
Ys 5 Limited Edition of Tsukikage no Destiny
Ys VI ~The Ark of Napishtim~

Yeah those are the latest games. Except Ys V...

Ys V Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand got released for PS2 yesterday. Hehe, odd coincidence. ;)

As for the best Ys IV, we've been discussing that here. The thread's right here.

By the way, Ys IV and Ys III got released on PS2 pretty recently as well.

I wonder if the game shown on the Play Asia site is the same as the game that was on the advertising insert that came with my copy of Oath in Felghana.

Probably, since it was the next game Falcom released.

I'm not sure.  I was looking at the insert again just now and I am seeing screenshots of characters with polygonal models.  My guess is that the game shown on the insert might be a different one.

The pictures in that advert are from Xanadu Next -- the best game in the history of time.

Is it a good game?  I am considering snagging it.  Is it an action RPG?

It's an Action RPG. The system involves cards to help with stats and such. I really forgot most of what made it special, but I'm sure someone else can get you more info. The game was fun for the first bit, but was getting boring when I had stop playing.
